Friday morning June 17, my daughter and I left home for a three day backpack along the Cabin Loop trail on the Mogollon Rim. We've backpacked together twice before. The first time was almost twelve years ago on an out and back of the Barbershop Trail The second time was a Grand Canyon trip we did in April 2005, so it's been a long time.

Longevity - Altra Lone Peak 2.5
I've seen several claims of hikers getting huge amounts of miles out of the shoes they wear hiking. Personally, I'd never experienced that, even with the hiking boots I used to wear before switching to trail runners last summer. Most of my walking is on dusty, and rocky desert trails so maybe that has something to do with it. Whatever the case, I decided to see what condition my Altra Lone Peak 2.5 shoes would be in after 500 miles.

Little Pan Loop
This past Memorial Day, I had a great morning hiking the Little Pan Loop of the Black Canyon Trail. I parked at the Table Mesa Trailhead and hiked from there, going clockwise around the loop. Temperatures were very nice when I started at about 7:40 and were getting warm when I finished at about 11:40.
