Tahoe Rim Trail - My Videos

I know, it's been close to a year and a half since my through hike of the Tahoe Rim Trail but I finally put together three videos of that trip. It was really fun for me to go through the pictures and video I took on that trip. None are too long; all three combined are less than 15 minutes. I hope you enjoy them.

Colorado Trail Gear

I thought it might be helpful for some people to cover what gear I took on my Colorado Trail thru-hike summer of 2017. I already had a gear list on LighterPack but decided to make a video where I basically unpacked my pack, discussing each item as it was removed. Here's the video, and the gear list follows.

Maricopa Trail - Guadalupe to Trilby

I spent the last four days of 2017 backpacking over 80 miles of the Maricopa Trail, from Guadalupe to the Trilby Trailhead.

The Maricopa Trail, or MT, is a trail that circumnavigates the Phoenix Metro area connecting many of the regional parks throughout Maricopa County. My trip started in the town of Guadalupe a bit east of South Mountain Park. I walked through South Mountain, then along the Gila River Indian Reservation to Tres Rios, so named because the Salt, Gila, and Agua Fria rivers all merge together into the Gila. After Tres Rios, I passed by Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) then went through Estrella Mountain Regional Park. From there, I traveled through Goodyear, then along Verrado to White Tanks Regional Park. Finally I passed by Surprise and finished up near Grand Ave and the Loop 303 at the Trilby Trailhead.

GCNP - Escalante Route

Left to Right: Me, Craig, Dallin, Alex

Last May I figured I should at least try to get one trip into the Grand Canyon this year. I wanted to head to an area I hadn't explored before so I put in for a permit for the Escalante Route. The plan was to head down the Tanner Trail and camp near Tanner Rapids (BB9 Use Area), then head downstream on the Escalante Route and camp near Hance Rapids off of Red Creek (BD9 Use Area), then hike out up the New Hance Trail. Granted I've been down Tanner Trail before, but then we went upstream to the confluence with the Little Colorado River.

My permit was for four and the only person from my usual GC crowd able to go was Craig. About two weeks before the trip, I contacted Dallin, a hiker I had chatted with about the Colorado Trail and asked if he'd like to go. He was up for the trip along with his friend, Alex.
